rant

So, life's been shitty. I'm depressed, I'm burned out, I don't know what I want to do with my life, and someone broke into my car. (Sorry, Richard Voyles' car.) Derby is awkward since I had to have someone removed from the league for sexual harassment. (Didn't hear about that? It's ruined me.) My friends from college are "too busy" to drive an hour and a half to visit me (and really, isn't it easier for me to go to them since they all live in Boston?) and my sister Sally doesn't return my phone calls. [hint]

Plus, I get asked by alternating parents when I'm taking the GREs/what I'm going to grad school for/what my career goals are. I DON'T KNOW. Dad doesn't seem to think that "not knowing what I want to go to school for" is an issue. He laughed out loud when I said I just wanted to work on a farm for a while. Oh, and remember when I RUINED MY SISTERS' LIVES by going to Colby College?

I have plans to move away from here around the holidays, but that seems so far away. I want to go to New Zealand and pet sheep. Or to South Africa and play in the mountains. Or to Istanbul and drink coffee on a rooftop. Or go to Alaska and be chased by a polar bear riding a moose.

As for me, I want you to come visittttttttttttttt. This is probably my last summer in Mass and it's really the time to be here. So much beautiful outdoors stuff to do, good festivals (there's an Elvis Impersonator festival coming up soon...) and ME.

Surgery

Hey, I got back from surgery a few hours ago. It was pretty weird. After they put an IV in my hand, they injected anesthesia through it then took my to the surgery room. I felt okay, but kinda out of it. The I looked up at the ceiling and I coul have sworn it was on a slow conveyor belt! I couldn't tell if my stretcher was moving or not, but when I looked away then back up again, it was back in its original place. It was like I was high or something. And when they put the mask on me, I don't remember being sleepy at all. I was awake for a few seconds, then completely gone. Two hours later I woke up in some other room and was eventually moved back to the pre-op room. Now I'm home and still pretty woozy when I stand and my throat hurts, but it's fine. And my vision is kinda funky (I'm wearing mom's reading glasses). I can't focus on anything close without them, but I can watch tv normally. So yeah, pretty intense day.

Annie's going to have her surgery next Thursday and I'm probably going to have to take a cab to school >:(

alpacas

I really want alpacas someday. Caroline, mom told me a while ago that as a Christmas gift or something you donated money to some alpaca thing where the money goes towards raising alpacas in third world countries so people can sell the wool for money. Woohoo that was a long sentence.
I want a bunch of alpacas so I can sell their fuzz and then donate it all to that same organization thing. Sounds like a pretty awesome plan, I must say.

Look, I'm posting, Merdifmerdif. It's snowing like bajeezus here today, so I'm the only one in the office. (Interwebs time!)

Anyways, I'm generally liking life right now. I've been working on some things I've wanted to improve on lately: get off my psychomeds, stop drinking coffee/caffeine, get back into the shape I was in 1.5 years ago, and start living in the moment/stop worrying so much.

So far: I'm off the meds! It's only been 2.5 weeks since I totally went off them, so we'll still need to see how I'm able to function without them for a while.

I've stopped drinking coffee everyday! Most days I don't even have it anymore, but I'm allowing myself unlimited tea (but only decaf/herbal after 4pm). You've known me for a while - this is huge.

Getting in shape.....ehhhhhh......we're getting there. I quit my gym membership last May because I was like, I play roller derby 2 or 3 times a week, and it's nice out, so I can just go for a run for free whenever. But running just never really happened, and no gym meant to weight lifting. Now I've got my gym membership back, it's just really hard to find times to go when I'm not at work or derby.

And living in the moment is just hard when so many more moments are coming up to worry about!

And yeah, so I got into this Leadership Development Institute at my agency, and I'm really excited about it! I'll be able to tell you more when it starts up.

So I'll be swinging thru DC on February 18 on my way down south for a southern roadtrip with Julia. We'll stay the night, leave Foofman with you, and then we'll be back on the 27th. We're going to try to leave early both of those mornings to be able to spend a good amount of time with you little girls. Sally, sorry, but you're the odd one out this time.

Okay, Virginia is really starting to tick me off, it had been lightly sprinkling snow (if you can even say that) and they canceled all after school activities, okay fine, whatever, be a wuss. But now we have like an inch on the ground, and I don't think we're going to get a snow day. And they keep predicting 5 (yes 5 whole INCHES OF SNOW) but then we either get none or just a little.
So basically, here are three things that you need to know about Virginia:
1. Nobody is a good driver on nice days, let alone cold winter weather days, just stay indoors and away from windows
2. I'm pretty sure there are only three snow plows in the entire state, so obviously the slightest amount of snow is a big deal.
3. The weather equipment used on local television is shit
